Fashion seems to be inseparable in our life. But there’re times that people just have to confess that they know nothing about fashion.
Apple has introduced a polishing cloth costing HK$149 for wiping its own products, and it even ran out of stock currently. Netizens are asking why. What happens to be the difference to cost that tiny little cloth for such a high price. I mean, I just use my shirt to wipe my iPhone if I have to. Who is using a polishing cloth in the first place? It seems to be ridiculous for most of us. However, soon upon its introduction, it ran out of stock. Apple fans claim that it is well worth the price for not causing damages to the gadget. Wow. That’s all I can say.
That is far beyond the more ridiculous items in the fashion industry. Tiffany & Co. launched a product line named Everyday Objects, in which you can find useful and fashionable items. That sounds nice, isn’t it? Being trendy in a subtle way to impress everyone that you’re living a high-quality life.
Look at this can. LOOK AT THIS TIN CAN. IN FIVE SECONDS, TELL ME WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS. It looks exactly like an unwrapped Campbell soup can with an extra blue line. It is described as Instantly recognizable with the signature Tiffany Blue hue of this design’s enamel accent on its website. Of course, it’s instantly recognizable. It’s the can soup can. If I told my mom I spent HK$8500 on this can, she would kill me. What a disgrace to a thrifty Asian family. I know it’s a handcrafted product; it’s a silver product, and it’s from Tiffany & Co.. BUT A TIN CAN IS STILL A TIN CAN. Are you really going to put pencils in it as suggested by the website? Does it really make you a high-class person?
Your outfit and accessories affect your impression in others’ eyes. But is it really necessary to purchase so-called designers’ items in return for people’s astonishment? Will people really look down on you if you don’t use Prada’s paper clips? It is not a matter of brand loyalty or taste. It’s ridiculous to me that people are actually buying those items out of their minds. I must say think twice before buying those sensational products.
